or, Why I Chose Not to Stray from Word - Hey, I have nothing against Scrivener. It's just not for me. If you're looking for alternatives, here's what I use.
I'm am getting more used to Google Docs, again, mostly because some of my clients use it. But mostly I'll write in Word and paste into Docs.
That may change soon though. I notice that Windows is starting to play with Word and make it unstable -- a gentle nudge perhaps to get me to sign up to a Word subscription? If that's the case, it will be Google Docs for everything!
I used Word for years and years ... but I don't want to pay for an ongoing subscription these days. It took me a while to adjust to Docs, but I'm there now. Gentle nudge? I think Microsoft makes it a real pain in the ass NOT to pay. And well they should, they're in it to make money.
Oh for sure -- I don't begrudge them making money. But after that whole thing a few years ago with Apple installing software to purposefully slow down iPhones so you'd upgrade -- that's underhanded. Makes me wonder if Microsoft is now doing something similar...!
It was worth it for me to try it, at least for my fiction writing. Definitely overwhelming for all the reasons above. But I know many people love it, once they get the hang of it!
Yeah, I’m going to agree with you Graham. I tried it, found it too complicated, and went back to Google Docs.

This was what forced me to jump to LibreOffice. It's not bad over here.
I've heard great things about that, too! I think I tried it once, but out of curiousity. I'll add it to the list for if I need to jump ship.
Thanks!

Thank you Graham! I have always wondered about that too but could never make a case for using it!!
