Well Graham, I’ve really enjoyed your writing. Congrats on a year. As a general principle, I want you to write about that which fascinates you so much that you have to share it--I think that’s where the good stuff comes from, where your voice can be most authentic. But hey, that’s a cop out isn’t it? If you can shed any light on this question, it will be of value to me: what’s the best advice you can give to a person moving from the first draft of a novel to the second draft? I’m following Mike Bell’s advice of writing an outline of the first draft, thus to come face to face with its issues, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.

As for a shoutout, sure, why not: https://tompendergast.substack.com. If you can identify what it is I natter on about, I’ll be grateful :)

Well thanks for that Tom! Glad you get something from this newsletter. And right back atcha on yours!

Great idea for a post Tom. Yes, I do have a few ideas on that as a matter of fact (I do like Mike Bell's advice too, btw). To this point, most of what I've written is kind of "first draft"-level topics. But second drafts -- I can tie in a lot of ideas there...

Thanks for the topic!

Congratulations Graham! A great first year for sure! I've personally derived a lot of inspiration from your writing and look forward to it every week. Your advice is often uncanny with its timing because it's just the right nudge I need to improve myself.

Looking forward to many more years of your success 😀

Thanks Punit! Glad to hear you've gotten so much out of it!

I get that timing thing a lot too, so that's kind of funny. I'll keep nudging...
