As a general principle, I want you to write about that which fascinates you so much that you have to share it--I think that’s where the good stuff comes from, where your voice can be most authentic. But hey, that’s a cop out isn’t it? If you can shed any light on this question, it will be of value to me: what’s the best advice you can give to a person moving from the first draft of a novel to the second draft? I’m following Mike Bell’s advice of writing an outline of the first draft, thus to come face to face with its issues, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.
