It's so reaffirming to see you admit that even you struggled with nailing down the plot for your novel. I have found that even for the best of us, writing isn't about putting down into words the fully formed vision that just showed up in your mind. It's more a journey of discovery of what is it that your mind is currently capable of creating. Thank you for your honesty!
Yeah, writing is not like in the movies when they put a piece of paper in the typewriter, type a page, and put it on the neat pile all the way to "The End". It's definitely messy. This particular novel is so messy that I am writing it in parts throughout the book. I have a beginning, middle, and end at the moment, but not enough to connect them...!
I just trust that at some point it will all come together.
This is such a gold mine if inspiration. I’m going to have to go read all of these other posts in here - because I’m definitely trying to figure out motivation and overcoming friction after taking on a new part time role. 🙏
Yeah, juggling competing priorities is definitely a big thing. I've touched on it several times, but maybe it's worth a whole post in itself.
But from the work I've seen on your website, you're managing somehow! Love your paintings. I seems you get a lot from the creative process as well, which I think is one of the most overlooked parts of creating -- the pure enjoyment of it all.
Hope you find your way to work/creative balance soon!
I keep getting this book from the library, reading a few impactful chapters, then it’s due. Like it’s a Surprise! This is one I need to buy, so I can chip through it and reread at leisure!
Yeah, I find it's so dense and packed with information -- almost every single sentence could be a graphic on BrainyQuotes.com -- that one reading is not enough. Definitely one of those books you can pick up, read a passage at random, and get something from it. I highly recommend!
Haha, 6,633km apart, nice! See you on Friday, it's always a pleasure.
But that's it, you should simply show up, day after day, week after week.
Showing up is at least half the battle, I find! Makes it easier when you have accountability to a writing group/partner.
See you Friday!

Fully formed vision? I wish! lol

Thanks for the comment Punit!

Thanks Sana! Glad you got something from it.
