I love writing when I’m in the thick of it. It surprises me (especially in my writing day job when I don’t always have the choice of subject) when I come out of the work and realize how much time has passed without being distracted from the words. But I often struggle to get started in the first place. It’s like there’s big wall between me and the page and sometimes I can’t manage to climb it.

Oh yeah, I've struggled with that, too. Still do sometimes, especially with the novel. Mental fatigue and creative drain are parts of the reason why I don't always head back down to the office at night to work on it. But there is also that... hump. Some sort of wall or maybe inertia that keeps me from sitting down.

But yeah, once I get going, time can fly! It's just getting over that initial (and inertial) hump!

What I love about writing is that it turns abstract thoughts that exist in my head to real words that I commit to paper (or screen). It turns something vague into something real. Something that I commit to as my opinion, my identity, and my words. I love it!

That's a great point, Punit! Takes the ephemeral to the real -- at least, as real as pixels in a Word document can be... lol It certainly makes the ideas more concrete though.

Thanks for the insights!
